    Background:

After a profound experience earlier in my life, I became interested in the question ‘What stops us from loving?’ ‘Why do we cause each other and ourselves so much pain?’ I came to the conclusion that it was because we were nursing painful past experiences, often unconsciously, as well as holding on to limiting belief systems, which cut us off from the source of love within us. I became curious about how these wounds can rule our lives and decided to train as a counsellor and later as a psychotherapist at the Chiron Centre for Body Psychotherapy in London. In 2007 I completed my training in Interfaith studies.

In the past I have been involved in facilitating workshops using the creative arts; counselling young people with challenging behaviour; working within a therapeutic community for women who self harm; relationship workshops for children in schools; and mentoring people with an offending history.

My recent work includes one to one work with individuals dealing with a broad range of issues and I also offer professional supervision to individuals and groups.

In addition to using words as a means of communication, I offer an opportunity to use movement and bodywork as well as exploring the arts such as: painting, drawing, clay and sandtray, as metaphor and imagery can often capture the subjective experience better than words.

Part of my practice includes Somatic Trauma Therapy with people who have experienced traumatic events in their lives and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), which has proved to be particularly effective with individuals suffering from post traumatic stress disorder.

About Doron Levene

Accreditation:

CCBP (Chiron Centre for Body Psychotherapy Diploma)
    UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy)

Affiliations:

CABP (Chiron Association for Body Psychotherapists - I am the current Chair of the CABP Ethics and Equal Opportunities Committee)
IARPP (International Association for Relational Psychoanalysis & Psychotherapy)

Background:

I have been working as a relational body psychotherapist since 1998 and currently maintain a private practice in Muswell Hill in North London and Waterloo in South London. I trained at the Chiron Centre for Body Psychotherapy in Ealing.

My work is informed by a relational and integral approach that aims to relate diverse theories and interventions with the experiences that emerge within the therapeutic relationship. In practice this includes perspectives , which are referred to as humanistic (body psychotherapy and gestalt), relational psychoanalysis, attachment theory, trauma work as well as current thinking in neuroscience.

In my work I aim to facilitate a space of basic security within which a client can make their own decisions about what is valuable for them.

I seek to develop an empowering practice within a culture of, mutuality, support and challenge. I am inspired by a love of healing and learning and I am interested in what is effective as well as what isn’t.

I spent an earlier part of my life running a successful photography business.

I am bilingual and fluent in both English and Hebrew.
